Welcome to Cumberland Wayfarers & Co
We have just started designing our website - so this is a "holding page". Do get in touch if you are interested or follow us on social media.“Wayfare” refers to the act or course of journeying, or to travel; to make a journey. It is an archaic term, primarily used as a verb meaning to travel, especially on foot, and is also sometimes used as a noun to describe travel or a journey.
1. archaic : an act or course of journeying. 2. obsolete : money or provisions for a journey.
The earliest known use of the verb wayfare is in the mid 1500s. OED’s earliest evidence for wayfare is from 1534, in Prymer in Englyshe. Which is interesting because it is the period in which our tale begins. The tale we want to tell about food and heritage.
